Yes it true the elusive 50KT/500m has been broken officially by Sebastien Cattelan, after been beaten off two weeks ago by Rob Douglas who held the title with a ratified speed of 49.84KT/500m, today's nuclear conditions came through to help power Seb an average of 50.26 knots (93.08152 kph) over 500m. Still to be confirmed by the WSSRC officials, but Sebastien Cattelan set a new world record today of 50.1 knots (92.7852 kph) over 500m at the Luderitz Speed event 2008. We'll keep you update as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Results have been ratified and the official World record now stands at 49.84KT/500m set by Rob Douglas. It's only a matter of time now before the 50KT/500m is broken, event ends 19 October.
